Security Guard

Atlas House, a shortlet apartment property in Iwofe, Port Harcourt, is hiring a reliable Security Guard who can also assist with general duties.

Responsibilities

• Communicate clearly and politely with customers, staff and visitors
• Attend to customers professionally and direct them appropriately
• Monitor and secure the entire compound
• Monitor customers entering and exiting the premises
• Ensure no unauthorized person gains access to the building
• Keep a visitor/guest log, recording who enters and exits and checking ID where appropriate
• Open and close the gate promptly
• Assist guests with luggage and hold/issue spare keys when required
• Operate (turn on/off) the generator, and check fuel and oil level, reporting when low
• Manage generator, solar and inverter usage smartly
• Ensure all doors, gates and lights are properly locked and switched off after closing hours
• Keep the entrance and surroundings neat and tidy
• Run official errands when required
• Report any incident, damage, suspicious activity, fire or medical emergency immediately to management
• Be alert at all times and neatly dressed

Requirements and conduct

• Must be honest and trustworthy in handling money and company items
• Must not sleep, drink or smoke while on duty
• No phone use or distraction while on duty
• Must keep guest identities, movements and company information confidential
• Minimum SSCE qualification
• Prior security experience preferred, ideally at a hotel, estate or similar property
• Must provide 1-2 named guarantors with contact information
• Must provide a police character certificate / pass a background check
